1. About our Terms
The First Aid Champions website (the "Site") is provided and operated by The British Red Cross Society ("BRCS").
BRCS is incorporated by Royal Charter 1908; registered as a charity in England and Wales (220949), Scotland (SC037738) and the Isle of Man (0752) whose national headquarters is at 44 Moorfields, London, EC2Y 9AL.
These terms and conditions (the "Terms") explain how you may use this Site which is provided to you free of charge.
You should read these Terms carefully before using the Site.
By accessing or using the Site you agree to be bound by these Terms and the documents referred to in them.
If you are under 18 years old, you must have your parent or legal guardian's permission to use the Site. Please have them read these Terms with you.
If you are a parent or legal guardian of a user under the age of 18, by allowing your child to use the Site, you are subject to these Terms and responsible for your child's activity on the Site.
If you do not agree with or accept any of these Terms, you should stop using the Site immediately.

We reserve the right to change these Terms at any time without notice if technologically required or required by law. Your continued use of the website following those changes indicates your acceptance of those changes. These Terms were last updated in December 2019.
2. Using the Site
The Site is for your personal and non-commercial use only.
You agree that you are solely responsible for all costs and expenses you may incur in relation to your use of the Site.
If you choose to access the Site from locations outside the UK, you are responsible for compliance with local laws where they are applicable.
We may prevent or suspend your access to the Site if you do not comply with any part of these Terms or any applicable law.
3. Ownership, use and intellectual property rights
For the purpose of this section, Intellectual Property means rights such as copyright, trade marks, domain names, design rights, patents and other intellectual property rights of any kind whether or not they are registered or unregistered (anywhere in the world).
This Site and all Intellectual Property in it, including but not limited to any text, images, video, audio or other multimedia content, or other information or material on the Site ('Content'), are owned by us, our licensors or both (as applicable).
We and our licensors reserve all of our and their rights in any Intellectual Property in connection with these Terms. This means, for example, that we and they remain owners of our Intellectual Property and free to use it as we and they see fit.
The following intellectual property rights restrictions apply to your use of this Site:
- Commercial use or publication of any or all of the Content is strictly prohibited without prior authorisation from us. Nothing contained herein shall be construed as conferring any licence to use any item displayed, other than as necessary to enable you to access the Site.
- The Red Cross and Red Crescent emblems are protected trade marks under international and national laws. Use of these trade marks is strictly prohibited without prior authorisation from us or the relevant trade mark owner.
- You may use and reproduce the Content for the purpose of teaching, or being taught, first aid in your relevant education establishment only . You must not modify paper or digital copies of any Content you may have printed off or downloaded in any way, and you must not use any illustrations, photographs, video or audio sequences or any graphics separately from any accompanying text.
4. Rules about linking to our Site
You may link to our Site, provided you do so in a way that is fair and legal and does not damage our reputation or take advantage of it.
You must not establish a link in such a way as to suggest any form of association, approval or endorsement on our part where none exists.
You must not establish a link to our Site on any website that is not owned by you.
Our Site must not be framed on any other site.
We reserve the right to withdraw linking permission without notice.
5. Registering on the Site
Users may only register for an account on the Site if they are 16 years old or older.
Teachers, tutors or other educators who register can create classes and courses in the "My Groups" area of the Site. A list of unique IDs will be generated for each class. Teachers will assign a unique ID to each of their students, which will allow students to log into the site anonymously meaning that BRCS will hold no personal data on that student. Students with unique IDs will be able to access the “My results” area of the Site.
We will delete the accounts of users that have been inactive for a period of 3 years. Deletion of an account will also mean the deletion of all of the data associated with that account i.e. classes, quiz results, confidence reports and all the associated unique student IDs.
6. Your information
Our privacy notice explains how we treat your personal data and protect your privacy when you use the Site.
7. Accuracy of information and availability of the Site
While we try to make sure that the Site is available, accurate, up-to-date and free from bugs, we do not warrant that provision of the Site will be uninterrupted or error free, that defects will be corrected, or that this Site or the server that makes it available are free of viruses or bugs.
The Site is provided "as is". We do not promise that the Site will be fit or suitable for any purpose. The Site and the Content are provided for your general information purposes only. While the Content provides guidance on initial first aid care and treatment, it must not be regarded as a substitute for medical advice nor should it be relied upon for any purposes.
We may suspend or terminate operation of the Site at any time if technologically required or required by law.
We recommend that you take appropriate safeguards to protect against viruses before downloading any Content.
8. Hyperlinks and references to other websites
The Site may contain links or references to websites operated by other organisations. Any such links or references are provided for your convenience only. We do not control such websites, and are not responsible for their contents. Our inclusion of links or references to such websites does not imply any endorsement of the material on such websites or any association with their operators. You are responsible for evaluating the accuracy and completeness of any information contained on third party websites, and also the value and integrity of any goods and services offered.
Your use of a third party website may be governed by the terms and conditions of that third party site.
9. Limitation on our liability
Although we hope this Site will be of interest to users (and except to the extent that our Terms & Conditions apply), we accept no liability and offer no warranties or conditions in relation to this Site or its content, to the fullest extent such liability can be excluded by law.
If you are a consumer and not a business user, we shall not be liable to you for any business losses and shall only be liable for any losses which are reasonably foreseeable.
We do not exclude or limit in any way our liability to you where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or the negligence of our employees, agents or subcontractors and for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
10. Events beyond our control
We shall not be in breach of this agreement nor liable for delay in performing, or failure to perform, any of our obligations under these Terms if the delay or failure was because of events, circumstances or causes beyond our reasonable control.
11. Rights of third parties
Unless we expressly say otherwise, no one other than a party to these Terms has any right to enforce any of these Terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.
12. Variation
No changes to these Terms are valid or have any effect unless agreed by us in writing.
13. Disputes
We will try to resolve any disputes with you quickly and efficiently.
If you are unhappy with us please contact us as soon as possible at youtheducation@redcross.org.uk.
If you and we cannot resolve a dispute using our complaint handling procedure, we will:
- let you know that we cannot settle the dispute with you; and
- give you certain information about our alternative dispute resolution provider.
In addition, please note that disputes may be submitted for online resolution to the European Commission Online Dispute Resolution platform.
These Terms, their subject matter and their formation, are governed by English law.
These Terms are governed by English law and the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction over any contractual and non-contractual disputes you may have arising from these Terms. If you are a resident of Northern Ireland you may bring proceedings in Northern Irish or English courts. If you are resident of Scotland, you may bring proceedings in Scottish or English courts.
